yes there are little niggling things that I'd like changed. Like one gets difficilty seeing the screen in bright sunlight. But consideringbthatthis Samsung NX 300 is fitted with an 18-55 m.m. kit lens. It does manage to amaxe me with then pics that it takes. Its metering system is great, with the Spot and Multi segment metering performing admirably. The lens shows no vignetting, even shooting wide open and at the 18 m.m. wide angle setting. My DSLR kit lens, (which was manufactered by Pentax for my Samsung GX 10, a Pentax K10 clone), has horrible vignetting at those settings. And the NX 300's ability to shoot close ups is excellent. See below, for some examples.
That is a tiny hover fly settled on a dandelion flower.
These are "forget me not," flowers, which are tiny.
Here is one to demonstrate the cameras ability in varied lighting. All for now, take care all. Twm.

Well here we are coming towards the end of May, and spring has only just arrived here, due to climate change, it is two months late. :-(
But I have been taking some pics with the Samsung NX300, and it is a great little camera. I am impressed with its ability to perform well in most settings. I have been using cameras for quite a number of years now. I had an SLR, (Single Lens Reflex), in an Olympus OM10, then I went to Canon with an EOS 5. These were of course, film cameras that used the 35mm format. Then around 2000 I went into the digital camera market. At that time digital cameras were very expensive, (at least the Digital Single Lens Reflex, DSLR, cameras were), so I had to make do for a few years with a digital compact camera. I was never happy with this solution as it was impossible to get Bokeh, (the parts of the photo that are out of focus, ot blurred), with these cameras. I then went into the bridge cameraa market. These bridge cameras look similar to DSLR's but are not the same type of thing at all, Then, a few years back Samsung, teamed up with a very well respected Japanese camera company called Pentax. They, between them manufactured a brilliant DSLR, and it was the Samsung clone that I bought. Pentax had the K10, while Samsung had the GX10. Now here we are, years later, and Samsung have branched out on their own, and come up with what I think, is an excitibg range of cameras, called the NX range. The camera that I am using on this blog is the Samsung NX300, it is a morrorless type of rangefinder style camera. I am amazed at this cameras abilty to produce a lovely Bokeh, with ease, and only using a kit lens, not an expensive prime lens. The photo below is of a tiny shell, sitting on a small pebble. Look at the Bokeh in the image.

But now look at the crop of the shell. This is s 100% crop, that shows brilliant detail. look atvthe texture in the little shell itself. Yes I think this an impressive showing from the Samsung NX300 .
There will be more to follow as I take them. That's all for now. Bye, Twm.

Still impressed
Well, after a lot of initial problems, which are all sorted out now, I can tell you that I have not altered my mind abput the Samsung NX 300, and its 18-55 OIS kit lens. No, I am still impressed. Is it perfect, no, but then neither is a full frame Canikon camera, they all have faults, some more than most. I'm awaiting delivery of a new computer, so sometime next week, I shall start putting up some images that are taken with this little camera, that is the Samsung NX 300. Take care, until we can be together again on here. Twm.

Well, after a lot of thought
Hiya, Well after all the problems that I had yesterday, with the Samsung NX 300, I finally sorted it out. I used another computer running Win XP Pro, SP3. This old system had no problem handling the NX. It downloaded and installed the latest firmware for the camera, straight away. Plugged the camera back into the laptop running Win 7 and it all works great. So I hope, weather and time permitting, to shortly be putting up some images that I have captured with the Samsung NX 300.
The camera itself is very comfortable to hold. I don't have very large hands, and I have arthritis too, so weight is a problem for me. This camera fits, and feels very good. I will, in the future be putting some pics up here, hopefully trying the NX 300 against my Samsung GX10, which is a DSLR. We must then try to judge the output from both of these. Speak to you all again. Take care and have a great Saturday. Regards, Twm.

Oh rats!
Hi there, It appears that I have a duff camera. I have used it to take some photo's but I cannot get the pics from the camera, onto the computer. I've tried everything that I can think of, without success. I get messages from Win 7 that a device has failed, and Win does not recognise it, error 43. It must be replaced.
Hi there, Well, the camera arrived yesterday, and I have to say that my first impressions are very positive indeed. The camera itself is the Samsung NX300 with the 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 -Function lens. The build quality of both camera, and lens is excellent. There are no creaky noises when the camera is moved, or turned around. Which is evident in some cameras of the plastic type. The NX has a solid metal base plate, and top plate. The mode selection dial turns with a solid click when it reaches the correct position that you've dialed in. The on/off switch is positioned around the shutter release button, and is also a solid click, when turned on or off. The shutter release is responsive. The tilting rear screen is a jot to use, and, just like the Samsung Galaxy phones, (which we also use), is so crsytal clear that is like looking through a very clean window, at whatever it is you are trying to capture an image of. The camera that I have is a Brown one, the NX comes in a choice of three colours. There is a very nice White one, or a more traditional, Black, or the one that I have, which is Brown. As I said, my forst impressions are very positive, but, it remains to be seen how this camera will perform in real world useage.

Welcome here.
Hiya, This is my first time at this blogging lark, so please be kind. Over a period of time, I shall be trying out a new camera, and posting my experiences, and thoughts here, along with some photo's too, of course. So keep an eye out, (ooh that sounds painful), and we shall see how it goes. thanks, and best wishes. Twm.
